Eminem will sweep the awards, with Justin Bieber taking the Best New Artist trophy, and Lady Gaga fuming off stage. The 2011 Grammy Awards are coming!

The 53rd Grammy Awards presentation will be held at the Staple Center in Los Angeles on February 13, 2011. The Grammys, as the ceremony is better known, will be broadcast on CBS to the United States and to more than 100 countries around the world.

Although the ceremony comprises a total of 35 categories and over 130 awards, including a general field of four awards, this article will focus on a few selected ones, trying to gather the expert's early assessments while keeping in mind that intangibles are an intrinsic part of predicting, and that the earlier predictions are launched, the more volatile they are.

Record of the Year

Nominees for Record of the Year include:

  • Nothin' On You (B.o.B. featuring Bruno Mars; The Smeezingtons, producers; Ari Levine, engineer/mixer).
  • Love the Way you Lie (Eminem featuring Rihanna; Alex Da Kid & Makeba Riddick, producers; Alex Da Kid, Eminem, Mike Strange & Marcos Tovar, engineers/mixers).
  • Empire State of Mind (Jay-Z and Alicia Keys; Angela Hunte, Jane't "Jnay" Sewell-Ulepic & Shux, producers; Ken "Duro" Ifill, Gimel "Young Guru" Keaton & Ann Mincieli, engineers/mixers).

  • F*** You (Ce Lo Green; The Smeezingtons, producers; Manny Marroquin & Graham Marsh, engineers/mixers).

  • Drake.
  • Florence & The Machine

i think these prediction are really bad, they sound like they were made by some frat boy in his dorm. what's "cool" doesn't always win grammys, yes recovery will probably win album of the year, but love the way you lie? it didn't even deserve song of the year. all of those i'm ok with but justine beiber. you realize it won't be fifteen year old girls voting right. that's the only reason he's one his awards in the past, and grammy voters know his work isn't that great, and will definantly go for someone with true talent, and edge like Florence adn the machine, or mumford and sons

If Bieber ever wins, the Grammy will lose all its credibility to me.

The Suburbs is also nominated for Alternative Album of the Year, but I really hope Contra by Vampire Weekend wins. Arcade Fire isn't as good in my opinion.

Mumford & Sons should win best new artist if you're judging on talent but if you're judging on autotuned and the biggest fad of 2010 than yes bieber all the way. You sir need to listen to real music..

Ok recovery going double platinum in 8 weeks doesnt mean a thing.
Unlike MTV and other voting awards, popularity and sales dont mean as much at the Grammys. They are suppostu look at the quality of the music
Although some judges will always be influenced and perhaps a bit biased by their personal favourites, it is never at the level of other awards. Sales here arent that big a thing
As for Bieber, im not saying he wont win, but like the person below me said, the voters arent 15 year old girls. Just cause he won on MTV awards doesnt mean he will win here

I'll be honest, Gaga is a bit overrated in my opinion, her music is good not excellent and personally I think the songs from Fame were better than Fame Monster. Call me crazy but I think Katy Perry is a BETTER pop artist, her songs are catchy, traditional, successful, and GOOD. With gaga, the whole psychotic but different act was cool at first but it's starting to piss me off. To me Perry is more deserving of any Pop Award (Although one of the few Gaga songs I like, Telephone, is up for some stuff i understand)
Eminem def for Album and Record, but I'd give song to Cee-Lo Green, F*ck you is just AWESOME! Why his album The lady killer is nominated in any R n B category is beyond me.
New Artist will and should def not be Bieber, Drake and Florence are more deserving and more down the Grammy's alley.

I agree with song of the year, Album of the year and record of the year. Eminem, whether people like it or not, is a great songwriter, lyricist, and rapper. No other record or album (which does include album sales) even came close to him. Just because you don't like him, doesn't mean he is a bad artist.
As for best new artist, i do not believe Bieber should win it, and neither should Drake (a Canadian T.V. show star from Degrassi) or Florence of the Machines, you can't understand a word of her yelling in her songs. Mumford and Sons, on the other hand, has great lyrics and a very catchy rhythm in all of their songs. They are a much better choice in my opinion.
