My penchant for writing began at an early age. At 8, I already entertained my older siblings with full adventure, action, and other child's stories. At 16, I had a commentary page in my hometown's chess monthly magazine, but then, like the Supertramp's song goes, "they sent me away to teach me how to be sensible, logical, responsible, practical". And so, at 21, I had become immersed in a breakneck combination of college and work that left no time for any kind of fancy writing. For years, my prose consisted of memorandums and summaries.

It was until I became involved in social work in Nicaragua that I had the chance to write again. For over two years, I had to visit practically every Nicaraguan town, urban and rural, perform research about their economic and social status, and write reports on them. At the start of the new millenium, most Nicaraguan towns did not figure profusely on the web. Google already existed, but it had not heard yet about that small country in the center of the continent's isthmus. I had to squeeze in all the additional research collected by our team, who had no time for content prioritization, and convert it into a readable and practical draft.

Later, I worked in a vocational education institution for five years, time in which I wrote academic reports, analyses, and essays. Since then, I have written more than 40 articles for several Nicaraguan newspapers, specially La Prensa on subjects ranging from Hugo Chávez in Venezuela to the enchanting power of soccer World Cup. In addition, I have published several short tales in literature magazines in Nicaragua, and plan to finish my first book in the next three years.

Academically, I have a bachelor's degree in Business Management from Nova Southeastern University (NSU) in Florida, a master's degree in Education from Florida International University (FIU), and a master's degree in Political Studies from FIIAPP in Madrid, Spain. Having the opportunity to write for Suite101 and share my vocation with scholars and talented writers from around the globe is a privilege for me, and certainly a great way to learn from you all.

May the keyboard be with you!
